DisOrientation is an annual alternative orientation hosted by OPIRG Toronto in conjunction and collaboration with other campus groups and collectives. This years DisOrientation is presented in partnership with APUS, the Centre for Women and Trans People UofT, Cinema Politica, CINSSU, First Nations House, Indigenous Studies Student Union, Indigenous Waves, Students for Barrier-free Access, Pleasure Dome, and Mining Injustice Solidarity Network.
All DisO events are free and open to both students and the community. We strive to hold all events in barrier free spaces and specific access info is included with each event. Please note that as part of this we ask that attendees not wear cologne, perfume, body sprays or aftershave in order to make the space accessible to those with chemical sensitivities. If you have any questions, comments or concerns around accessibility please contact racheleopirgto(at)gmail.com.
This year’s Disorientation focuses on re-emphasizing the need for diverse voices to be at the forefront of everything we do. The act of re-establishing our narratives in a time where it seems as though our achievements are being eroded and rolled back in favour of a more hostile and unequal society.
We tell our stories through books, zines, podcasts, newspapers, movies, posters, and megaphones. The act of making ourselves heard, ensuring that we are heard, making sure that our voices are not erased or ignored, is powerful. And is unified by the simple slogan “Our Voices, Our Time”
